Woooo Boy, am I in trouble

And this little lovely, I’m actually on automatics for! Can’t wait.

I don’t know if I’m going to be able to be strong or not with the other two!

TUSAL Thursday and WI

Today is the day we’re supposed to share our ort collection for TUSAL.  I’ll show mine in a moment.

It’s been a fairly quick week!  I have a ton of little piddly things to do at work that keep me trotting back and forth down the hall between the filing area, copy room, and my desk.  We had a staff meeting today and we are on track to have all trials over by the end of June!!!!  Yikes!  Anyway, all those piddly things make the time go by fast.

I had a lab work appointment this morning.  It’s time for my annual physical and I always try to get my lab work and mammogram done beforehand so I can get the results at the same time I get my physical.  Because I knew I had a staff meeting at lunch (which is when my Weight Watchers meeting is), I stopped by the meeting on the way to work after the lab visit and weighed in.

Down 1.8 pounds this week!  I’ve entered a new ‘decade’ in my weightloss journey!

I’m going to have to change my Weight Watchers’ “uniform,” too.  I have been wearing the same trousers and blouse to work on Thursdays to help me keep things as close to similar as the time before when I weigh in each week.  I can now pull those trousers on and off without undoing them 😉

To answer a couple of comments from my last post:

Susan – we are moving to Arizona.  We have been looking at homes in Mesa, Tempe, Queen Creek, areas.

Katrina – this is only the 2nd time I’ve been excited about moving.  The first time was when I moved to Japan (with a 10 day notice!).

Figuringitallout – thanks for visiting!

Now for my TUSAL.  I love several of the Yankee Candle scents (although my favorite candle is Circle E).  I decided to repurpose some of the smaller sized candle jars for my monthly TUSAL.  So here’s January’s next to my empty jar waiting for the first ort of February.

Giveaway winner

I took the scientific method of declaring the winner by asking M to pick a number “1 through 6.”  I didn’t even tell him why.  His answer….”6.”  So Bine since you commented sixth, you are the winner!  Please email me and give me your address.  Email address over there >>>>>>>

Thanks for participating ladies.  I am going thru my stash and will have more.

The weekend is here!!!

My holiday from work ended up lasting another half day. It was very hard for me to go to work but I did. Of course my desk was a disaster when I got there….notes, scattered papers, new discovery requests, a new case file, all the little things that make me crazy because they all need to be done, all take up time I feel I could be doing BIG things, and all create more work in the end once they make themselves back to me.  It used to not aggravate me like it does now.

My roof has been repaired. The hole inside has been covered with a lovely clear plastic bag surrounded by metallic silver tape, and the tree in my backyard is now minus a huge limb that used to hang over the back roof. No telling when the hole will be properly repaired. We’re still waiting on a bit of drying out, I think.

We also had the cable people out yesterday afternoon. M was home for that though since I don’t understand that type of stuff. We have a new DVR box, and all of our ‘outlets’ and the ‘home port’ has been upgraded. This is supposed to mean faster internet, among other things. I’ve also been added to the account so hopefully I can get our master email account reset and I can get back into A Needle Pulling Thread so I can suck it into this blog.

Today is the first all day stitchy Saturday at Needlepoints, Ltd. It will be so nice to see the girls. There’s always so much going on there and we usually spend the day laughing most of it away. I am going to be working on my needlepoint all day. Hopefully I’ll be able to add some new stitches that have been drawn out.

I’m also going to be spending the night with Melissa. She has graciously agreed to help me with some computer issues. I’m going to take Summer Queen with me — in case there is stitching tinme — since it will be hard for me to work on the needlepoint piece at her place. I am so close to finishing!

I truly have my stitching mojo back. It’s all I think about. It has been about 2 years, if not more, since I’ve felt that way.

TUSAL 2011

I have officially joined the 2011 TUSAL. I am #164 on the list.  I love that list! I get to meet all kinds of new stitchers just because of a piece or three of snipped string!

I have posted the dates the photos are due in my column to help me remember to post photos.  Here’s my very first 2011 TUSAL photo.

2011 Stitching and a Giveaway

Happy 2011 to everyone!  I cannot believe it’s a new year already.  The week between Christmas and the 1st went by way too fast for me.  I thoroughly enjoyed my staycation.

I cooked; cleaned; rearranged (can’t find anything in my dressing area right now); filled a 36 gallon trash bag full of clothing from M and I (I have 10 empty hangers!) and tupperware for Goodwill; shampooed M’s office and the living room; got my nails done twice; played with the puppies; watched a whole bunch of football; cleared my DVR; watched a man cut a 18×6″ hole in the ceiling of my kitchen (which now has a beautiful orange “homer” bucket sitting under it); cleaned up THAT mess; and stitched, stitched, stitched.

Notice anything missing?  I didn’t pick up my Kindle a single time!  Didn’t even think about it and because of that I am thisclose to finishing the stitching portion of Summer Queen.

I finalized my 2011 Challenge list (see the tab up top).  It’s a mix of the different challenges that are going on in the blogosphere, i.e. new starts, UFOs, ornaments, etc.

M is reconfiguring the hard drive on my CPU. I cannot wait! I also have a notebook and have used it exclusively while on vacation. He also bought me an external hard drive so I’m working a little at a time moving photos around and trying to get ready to ‘updo’ my webpage.

It’s pouring here again today. We did a bit of driving around over the weekend looking some of the flood damage from the past weeks’ storms. As much debris as we’ve seen one week later we cannot imagine what some of those same places looked like while covered with running water. We are expecting more rain through tomorrow and maybe again on Friday. Nothing can be done about our roof (or the hole in our ceiling) until the rain goes away for an extended period of time and our attic can dry out. Sigh.

Now to the giveaway.  Back when Carriage House Samplings announced they were shutting down forever and ever and ever (yeah, right 🙄 ) I went on the search for several patterns.  One of the places I ordered from took forever to even acknowledge my order and when they didn’t get back to me after I followed up with an email I placed another order at another online place that immediately shipped to me.  Of course the first place mailed out to me almost on the same exact day I placed the second order so now I have two copies of this:

If you’re interested, leave a comment. I’ll do a random drawing on Sunday.

393 days until retirement!

Hump day!

I’m wishing my life away Monday through Friday at a time!  😆  I find myself living more and more for the weekends and I am in absolute agony waiting for my Christmas vacation to start.

We are talking a lot around here about retirement, maternity leave, and moving.  Right now, only the attorney I work for has no plans for any of the above! 😉  Boss has told other girl (who has a baby due the end of July) that he’s probably going to retire in June.  If M’s retirement ‘leave’ goes as we think it might I will probably want to quit mid-October at the lastest, depending on our house-hunting endeavors.  M mentioned my seeing about taking off a lot of time this coming summer to house hunt.  If we find a house, I’m moving into it and will wait on M to join me.

I have been playing around with my 2011 personal challenge.  I think I have a pretty good plan that currently includes mostly WIPs and some new ornaments.  I have several already stitched that I want to get ‘ornamentified’ so I want to be sure I leave myself time for that in the challenge.

We ended up seeing Burlesque last night.  I loved, loved, loved the music and costumes.  Cher was a little bit scary with her surgically altered lips but she can still sing!

It’s payday for me today.  I get the great joy of standing in line at the bank for my lunchbreak, and then I have some personal paperwork to take care of.  I might even have time to eat!

I’m attempting a new recipe from WW tonight and will share if I think it’s fit for consumption — in other words M enjoys it, too.

412

Very original subject line. I think I’m going to keep the countdown up but not so much in the headline all the time.

Thank you girls for your congratulations! M and I went out to celebrate last night. He’s actually excited. He even said he wants to have a ‘party.’ So not like him! 😆

It’s a little frightening to think it might actually be here.

Tonight is movie night for us and I have no idea what we’re going to see. We both want to see Burlesque and Narnia but it will depend on what’s showing when we get there, I imagine.

I really, really, want to stitch. I pulled my ornament magazines out Sunday and found a couple of ornaments already stitched, between some of the pages, from an ornament “RR” I was in many years ago. I had forgotten all about them so now I’ve got finishing ideas running through my head.

Oh, and the Brickle Brownies were a hit!

An awesome giveaway

Not mine!

2011 Challenges

For 2011 I’ve decided to set New Year Challenges for myself.

Several of them will come from the thoughts posted here, as well as stitching challenges.

I have so many WIPs that are neglected that I’ve decided to pull at least 12 of them to see how far I can get on them in 2011. Two of them will be designs I want finished for the fair this summer – Mirabilia’s “Summer Queen” and Lani’s “High Fashion Collage.” The other 10, I’ll have to work on this month. I’d like to include a finish or two in there as well.

What I’m planning at this point is to rotate 2 designs until I get my fair pieces out of the way – Summer Queen and HFC. My main focus is going to be Summer Queen though since I really should have had her in the fair last year. I want HFC in there as well; however, I’m not putting the pressure on myself like I did last year to make it happen. I think pressuring myself like that is what got me into burnout and flat out no stitching. Anyway, I have to have HFC in my stand and since it takes time to set it up and tear it down, I’m going to only be working on it on non-working days – normally Saturday and Sunday, unless I have a holiday from work for whatever reason.

When I finish a design I’ll rethink when I’m working on what, and pick a new project from the other 10. The other 10 might include one other needlepoint piece, but I can work it in-hand and won’t need my stand. I start a 10 day vacation on December 24th so I will have to decide by then what I want my 12 pieces to be.

While it would be great to finish 12 pieces this next year, my plan is to challenge myself to STITCH on at least 12 of my WIPs in 2011. I wish I could say that there will be no new starts, but I know myself better than that and I’ll just have to figure out a way to include it/them.

These are my thoughts for the moment; however, I’m keeping an open mind since so many other stitchers out there often post great ideas that I don’t think of.

I’ll start a new tab at the top of my blog to chart my progress.

Work

It’s a little weird at work. I’ve been seeing signs that come this next summer I may no longer be employed. Just a little comment here and there, plus Boss is ready to retire and we’ve started taking fewer cases and being more particular about the ones we are taking. I am not sad about it.

Puppies

They are getting along so great! I can’t believe we’ve had Jasper for almost a year. I can remember how concerned I was in the beginning with him not getting along with Harley and him being so very different from Bandit. He is still such a sweetheart! He is probably always going to be a shy one and we’ve learned to accept that. He sure loves to snuggle in bed though, and he loves his chicken jerky! Harley has been on a diet and is looking better. Trying to get Jasper to eat was a challenge and once we found what he liked Harley started getting less – since she wasn’t eating his food too!

Retirement

Still no work from HQMC about M’s retirement request. He did find out that retirement is calculated at the end of the month so instead of his retirement date being January 12, 2012, if accepted it would be January 31, 2012. He will be authorized 20 days to find a place to live and if he continues to accumulate leave at same rate he is now (meaning he’s not taking much time off and will lose it if he doesn’t use it) he will be retired on active duty probably the end of October 2011. Which means no matter what we are under a year. March 2011 or October 2011. My stomach gets butterflies thinking about it.

We went to see “RED” last night and enjoyed it.  Our local theater has started a discounted day — all day — any movie — on Tuesday so we’re trying to take advantage of it as often as possible.

This coming Saturday is my monthly Stitch-In and I’m really looking forward to seeing my stitchy friends. I will truly miss seeing them as often after we move. I’m planning on taking Pecan Pie Muffins.
