Oh my, thank you everyone for your comments and emails!  They were so nice to wake up to this morning.

I’m so excited about the 11 minute commute I’m going to face every work day.  I’ve decided to start going back to my fave coffee shop in the morning and maybe even skip the freeway and take the PCH to work instead.  I’m also looking forward to my little bumble-z not looking like I haven’t washed it in months from all the road crap that gets on it everyday.  My new office is in a “village,” right across from the main post office for that city.  I was happy to see that too since I often have packages to mail.

I’m sitting here so relaxed enjoying a great cup of coffee while I catch up on emails and blogs.  I’m about to head out the door for my nail appoint and to start shopping for new work clothes.  I don’t have any proper clothes for this particular position!

I normally wear suits and sweater sets to work.  For this interview I made sure my best suit was in perfect condition, polished my shoes, had my hair done the night before, and I even redid my makeup before I went since I had been working all day.  Imagine my surprise when the person interviewing me walks in wearing a t-shirt, bluejeans and cowboy boots and proceeds to tell me that that’s how she dresses up for work when there are not going to be clients.  On the days she doesn’t dress up she wears sweats…and so does the attorney I’ll be working for.  So you see…I don’t have anything to wear!  Oh, except for the boots.  I have 3 pair.  I wonder what goes best with cowboy boots….Coach or D&B?

For all of you out there looking for new jobs, I now pass on my job hunting vibes to you ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

  1. Congrats on the new job!! The new commute sounds fantastic!!

The dress code sounds similar to my office. I had to invest in more casual clothes when I started working there.

  2. WOO HOO!! I just have to say again just HOW insanely jealous I am of your new commute! Driving 32 miles in L.A. traffic each day for work really just sucks. It’s a damned good thing my job pays so well. LOL

Have fun shopping. 🙂 When I first started with my company 11 years ago, it was all business attire. Things have loosened up considerably since then since the policy changed to full time business casual. For the most part, the only rules we have now are no shorts, no sweats, and no flip-flops.

  3. One of the things I love about my job is the relaxed atmosphere there. And color me envious, too, over that short commute. So when are you going to start biking to work? ;->

  4. Sounds like a great place to work – congrats on the new position!

  5. Congratulations on your new job. The dress code sounds fantastic to me!

  6. What lovely news! And what a commute! Unheard of in CA. 🙂

  7. Your dress code problem sounds like a nice problem to have – I’d love to have a more casual work environment. I’m pretty lucky, though, we have “business casual”, and on Fridays, we can wear jeans.

  8. Congratulations on the new job!!! I hope the commute won’t be horrible after you move though! I have a 1 (maybe 2?) mile commute and I LOVE it. At my job I live in jeans and flip flops in the summer, substituting the flip flops for sneakers in the winter. If I dress nicely I get asked how the interview was, or if I’d just been to a wedding or a funeral. Anyway it sounds like you’re going to have a little bit of time off before the new job starts…enjoy it!

  9. Congratulations, Terry that is great news! With this short commute I hope you will be able to get some stitching in.. Again Congratulations!

  10. Congratulations! That is wonderful. I am currently looking for a job myself, so I know how hard that can be. Enjoy your day for you!
